linking Javascript menus to web pages

CSS and Javascript was one of my primary learning objectives for this subject. I wanted to learn more about creating a memorable user experience and how navigation can make an impact on a visitor’s return rate. As a result, I implemented drop down menus with Javascript. JavaScript can run in a user’s browser locally and therefore respond to an audience’s actions/mouse movements quickly. I believe this immediate response creates and contributes to a positive user experience.

I am troubleshooting how to link my web pages within this drop down menu.

I understand that i cannot place a” a href” code within another “a href” code – however I am uncertain how else to create this important weblink?

I have created internal links within my copy to other web pages, as i understand this is a contributing factor to google’s page ranking, and ultimately contributes to my web pages perceived relevance and organic google ranking.

favicon update

Still no luck with my favicon appearing within my browser.

However after sourcing various forums such as whirlpool, I discovered a websiet dedicated to creating favicons here http://www.html-kit.com/favicon/

My code has been placed within the tags as outlined.

Any insights welcome!

I am interested in small elements that make a website memorable such as images, colors, interactivity and favicons.

Favicons are the small image that is displayed in a web address toolbar and favourites menu. This is short for Favourites Icon.

Wikipedia confirmed that “A favicon (short for favorites icon), also known as a website icon, shortcut icon, url icon, or bookmark icon is a 16×16, 32×32 or 64×64 pixel square icon associated with a particular website or webpage. “

I created a favicon in photoshop and it appeared when trialling in the firefox toolbar. However now it ill not appear when uploaded via Cyberduck to the server.

Still Troubleshooting and searching the Whirlpool forums as to why it is not appearing…..

JavaScript drop down menu

I am still experimenting with Javascript for my drop down menus.

Thanks to fellow student Vaneesa’a post on drop down menu’s, I looked at her script and then tried to translate what all the codling actually meant.I pasted this into my code and experimented with the firefox toolbar by “editing the css”. This is a good way to work backwards.

The “em” tag represents the width of the menu drop down elements, however initially I kept thinking this was a tag to make a font italic.Currently I cannot make the menu “drop down”. I believe this has something to do with the positioning of my title and header in relation to my li and ul .

The menu is within a div tag called Navbar – as seen below:
